D'UN FAUNE
Alessandra Rombolà – flute & Benedetto Boccuzzi – piano
The Italian flutist based in Madrid Alessandra Rombolà and the Italian pianist Benedetto Boccuzzi met in December 2017, at the International Festival of Contemporary Music URTIcanti, in Bari, Southern Italy. On that occasion, the two musicians felt an immediate musical affinity and decided to form a duo. The following program - a prelude to ESCAPE Art Lab, where Alessandra is a teacher and Benedetto, the special guest - is dedicated to Claude Debussy, in the year of the centenary of his death.
"D'un faune" is a love song to the music of the composer and it’ s influence on other important composers of the past and of today. The role of the mythology, especially of the Greek tradition, is investigated.
We have the Faun in “L’ après midi”, Pan, Syrinx…by Debussy. Sciarrino proposes his personal musical interpretation with "D’ un faune", for flute and piano. The programme includes a world premiere by Boccuzzi, dedicated to the sirens of the Odyssey, as well as the beautiful "Crystals" by Doina Rotaru, with its magical atmosphere and a piece which takes us directly to Paris at the beginning of the XX century: "Cantabile et Presto" by G. Enescu. A musical journey, rich in literary and poetical references, to be enjoyed with all senses.
